Accommodation
Shambhala has a variety of accommodation available. The main house
has two share rooms (4 beds each) and a double, all with shared facilities.
Another building up on the hill has four doubles/twins, with a separate
kitchen. All rooms come with made-up beds (no bunks), and stunning views
over the bay!
The main house has a comfortable lounge area with a fire-place and
an interesting collection of English, Japanese and German language books.
There is also a selection of board games, as well as a guitar and a
piano for music lovers. On the verandah you can relax on a couch while
admiring the panoramic ocean views. The spacious gardens are lovely
to wander around, and the gazebo is a perfect spot for a BBQ-night under
the stars.
Shambhala guest-house offers backpacker-style accommodation. In winter
time we offer different kinds of yoga and meditation retreats. Groups
are also welcome to use Shambhala in winter time.
Environmental-friendly technology
Shambhala promotes an environmental-friendly life-style by using alternative
technology. We use solar power as a source of energy, and there is a
rainwater collection system for our water supply. To heat the water
we use a wet back (fire-heated), gas and solar energy.
There are also very efficient clivis multrum composting toilets and
recycling for glass, metals and plastic. Food scraps are used for composting.
